Jane Kanistanaux – who is she?
My friend, Randy Blood, has been visiting in New York State and collecting documents for this Kanistanaux family. My next two documents are cemetery cards provided by the local historian (name unknown, age 91).
Today I will introduce a new family member.

Today is the beginning of a series of census records documenting the family of Caroline Augusta Kanistanaux. I found them from 1880 through to 1930, including the New York State Census.

Kanistanaux in the 1875 NYS Census
I will start off this adventure with a key document showing three generations of the family in question. This document gives me some approximate birth dates and birth locations as a starting point for further investigation.
I just love the New York State Census series. Over the years these state census records have answered lots of questions and solved a few mysteries for me. I only wish more states had participated in similar census.
